Samtec Expands Line of Q2 Series Connector Strips with Right Angle and Edge MountDesigns

Samtec’s Q2 second-generation Q Series® high speed connector system (QMS/QFS Series) now includes Right Angle and Edge Mount connectors for perpendicular and co-planar board mating applications.

Q2 high speed connectors feature contacts on .635mm (.025”) pitch with increased insertion depth and integrated guide posts for rugged applications.    Performance is up to 7.5 GHz for differential and 8 GHz for single-ended depending on stack height and configuration.  An integral, surface mount ground/power plane is rated for up to 8.9 amps at 80°C.  They are available with 52 to 208 pins for single-ended applications and 16 to 64 signal pairs for differential applications.  A variety of standard off-the-shelf high speed Data Rate mating cables are also available.

RF connectors, power pins, EMI shielding, and retention pins that can nearly double unmating forces can be added as standard options on these connectors.  For parallel board mating applications in an 11mm mated stack height, Final Inch® PCB layout recommendations and Application Notes for XAUI, PCI Express® and SATA are available.
