Hirose Electric was established in 1937 as Hirose Shokai, a company dealing in electric insulating materials. Starting in the 1940s we began to have links with the connector field, and the year 1963 the company unified its strategy to become a manufacturer specializing in connectors and changed its name to Hirose Electric Company, LTD. At this time, the company made the unique achievement of developing the first original connector in Japan. This was at a time connector technology was almost totally dependent on the United States.
